Can cracked walnuts be repaired with egg white?

Brush the egg white onto the cracked area and repeat several times. The effect is good. Doing this can prevent the walnut cracks from getting bigger and has a good repairing effect. The repaired walnuts must be scrubbed with clean water and dried with dry paper towels.

What to do if a walnut is cracked

1. Repair with egg white: Use a soft brush dipped in egg white and brush it to the cracks. Brush it several times to let it penetrate into the cracks. (You can apply or brush it, but don't use the foam directly). Don't be afraid if you brush it somewhere other than the cracks, it's harmless anyway. Wrap the processed walnuts with paper towels, then find a thin rope or thread to tie them up, and wrap them around a few times. If you find it troublesome, Tomato Craftsman has an easier way. Just find a small balloon and put it directly into it. Anyway, the main purpose is to add pressure to the walnuts to make them stick more firmly. A sealed bag is indispensable. If you are worried that it is not firm enough, you can repeat the previous steps and then keep it for two more days. 2. Keep fresh after dripping water

Drop a few drops of water on the cracks, not too much (you can also wrap them with a wet cloth or paper towel), then put them in a sealed bag and put them directly into the refrigerator's fresh-keeping layer. If you're not in a hurry, you can leave it for three to five days and then take it out and the cracks will basically not be visible.

Some friends may have tried putting it directly in the freezer, but it is not recommended. Because walnuts often crack due to rapid water loss during drying, when we add water and put them in the refrigerator, the purpose is to make it expand when heated and contract when cooled, and secondly, to allow it to absorb water again and swell, so as to reduce the cracks or even heal them. If it is placed in the freezer, it will be frozen before the water is fully absorbed, and the desired effect cannot be achieved. On the contrary, the fresh-keeping layer gives it enough time to absorb and penetrate.

This method is the simplest and most crude. Soak the walnuts in water first, then put them into a sealed bag containing a small amount of water (enough to evenly wet the inside) and seal it. You can also wrap it with a wet towel or paper towel (soaked but not dripping) and put it in a sealed bag and then ignore it completely. This method may be more effective for walnuts of the current year. It is said that walnuts newly picked from the tree are still very "alive" and have a certain self-healing ability. They will produce a gelatinous substance that will slowly heal the cracked walnuts.

4. Walnut oil repair

Crush the walnut kernel, wrap the walnut that needs maintenance, and rub it slowly to allow the oil in the walnut kernel to slowly seep into the cracks of the walnut. Then put it in a sealed bag and seal it for 2-3 days. After taking it out, just use a brown-bristle brush to clean the walnut kernels. Just dry brush it, but don't use water again! At this time, the surface of the walnut looks very shiny. Don't worry, continue to change it to a clean sealed bag and put it for three to five days. When you take it out again, it will be restored very tightly.

5. Use 502 glue

The principle of glue is the same as egg white, but since it is not as harmless as egg white, you have to be careful when applying it. You can prepare a small blade or a thin card, or a small needle, so that you can better apply the glue to the cracks of the walnut without getting it on the walnut's skin or on your hands. Using glue can be said to be the last resort. The walnuts glued in this way will be more solid. Basically, as long as you don't do anything stupid, they will not crack again.
