People often encounter some health problems in life, among which oral problems are more common. The throat inside the mouth is a high-incidence area of problems, which can have a great impact on people's bodies. For example, many people have coughed up foreign particles from their throats. These particles smell very bad and are unbearable. Let's take a look at why there are particles in the throat? Coughing up yellow, millet-sized substances from the throat is a tonsil stone. Tonsil stones mostly occur in the crypts above the tonsils. If this area is blocked for a long time, secretions cannot be drained smoothly, and cheesy substances accumulate, causing insoluble inorganic salts such as calcium and magnesium to deposit and form stones. The core may be a small foreign body, desquamated epithelial cells or bacteria. Stones often occur around ciliated hyphae. The stones can be one or more in number, ranging in size from sesame seeds to walnuts. There is a report of a tonsil stone weighing 6.4 grams. The stones scattered in the lymphatic tissue of the pharyngeal wall are small, soft and fragile. Tonsil stones are larger and as hard as stones. Stones embedded in the submucosal membrane often have a nodular surface. The mucosal surface may be eroded due to pressure, resulting in purulent fistulas, which often cause adhesions between the tonsillar crypts and the palatoglossal arches. Symptoms are similar to those of chronic tonsillitis. If there is purulent infection around the stone, there may be sore throat and reflex ear pain; in severe cases, there may be difficulty in swallowing, slurred speech, increased saliva, limited mouth opening, etc. When there is an infection, people often experience bad breath. Sometimes stones can break out from the tonsillar crypts or the palatoglossal arches. Tonsil stones are usually small in size and are often embedded in the crypts above the tonsils, causing discomfort or pain to the patient. The stones contain a large amount of sulfonamides and carry a large number of bacteria. When the stones are broken, they will emit sulfide gas with a smell similar to rotten eggs. Compared with the discomfort caused by the stones, the problem caused by this odor is more serious because it will cause patients to have embarrassing chronic bad breath. Treatment for tonsil stones Tonsil stones only need to be cleaned out and generally no surgery is required. Small stones can be removed with a scraper or forceps, while large stones must be removed by incising the mucosa under topical anesthesia, but they must be prevented from falling into the respiratory tract. If your tonsils are frequently inflamed, you always feel a foreign body sensation in your throat, and have bad breath, it is best to go to the ENT department of a hospital for a specialist examination in time. In daily life, we should pay attention to improving our own immunity and avoid repeated local infections. |
