Is it serious if the lymph nodes are painless and itchy?

The most common lymph nodes are those in the neck, but they may be found in other parts of the body. It is often caused by colds, fever, pharyngitis, tonsils, rhinitis, toothache, etc.

You can go to the hospital for a face-to-face examination by a doctor and an ultrasound examination to confirm the diagnosis.

1. Generally, this type of lymph node swelling caused by colds, tonsillitis, pharyngitis and toothache does not require special treatment. As long as you don't have a cold or fever and your throat and lymph nodes are not inflamed, the disease will subside.

2. If you have repeated colds, fevers, and pharyngitis, only treat the fever and pharyngitis, and do not use medication targeting the lymph nodes. But then the lymph nodes will be difficult to disappear.

3. Only the lymph nodes gradually become larger, and there are also symptoms such as weakness and fatigue. If tuberculosis or tumor is suspected, lymph node puncture or biopsy is required, and the pathology should be sent to treat the lymph node after the cause is confirmed.

Key Features

It is a lymphatic organ that the lymphatic vessels continuously pass through during their centripetal journey. It is a gray-red, oblate or elliptical body of varying sizes, about 2 to 25 mm in diameter, soft in texture and gray-red in color. There are several afferent lymphatic vessels entering the convex side, while the concave side is called the lymph node hilum, with 1 to 2 efferent lymphatic vessels, blood vessels and nerves entering and exiting. There are more than 800 lymph nodes in the body.

Lymph nodes often gather in groups, and can also be divided into superficial and deep groups. They are mostly distributed along blood vessels and are located in areas with more activity on the flexor side of the body. In the limbs, lymph nodes are mostly located on the flexor side of the joints; in the body cavity, they are mostly arranged along the vascular trunks or located near the organ gates. The lymph nodes in the chest, abdomen, and pelvis are mostly located around the visceral hilum and large blood vessels.

The lymph from a certain organ or part of the human body drains to certain lymph nodes, which are called local lymph nodes of that organ or part.
