How long does it take for the spiciness of peppers to go away?

For people who like spicy food, the spicy feeling is simply a kind of enjoyment. Chili peppers are high in vitamins and have the effects of dispelling cold and promoting appetite. However, when we cook, if we accidentally get our hands contaminated with chili peppers, our hands will feel pain due to the spiciness, and this pain is burning. So, how long does it take for the spiciness of pepper to go away?

The reason why peppers are spicy is that they contain capsaicin, which stimulates nerve endings and causes a burning sensation! Capsaicin is an alkaline substance that is soluble in alcohol, so you can repeatedly wipe your hands burned by peppers with alcohol cotton, or you can wash your hands with vinegar (or soak your hands in vinegar in water). Because capsaicin is an alkaline substance, it can react with acidic vinegar to neutralize capsaicin and capsaicin. It usually heals in about half an hour.

How to eliminate the spicy taste of pepper:

1. Immediately apply soap to your hands and scrub vigorously for 5 minutes to greatly relieve the symptoms. Because capsaicin easily adheres to around pores and is soluble in alkaline solutions, the problem can be solved by using soap.

2. Floral water and cooling oil can also relieve the symptoms of irritated hands.

3. If you have aloe vera gel at home, you can try using it, the effect is also very good.

4. Use alcohol to dissolve the capsaicin on your hands. After cutting peppers, you can wipe your hands in one direction with an alcohol cotton ball, then wash your hands with clean water, and then dry them. Do this three times until the symptoms are relieved.

5. Wash your hands with a small amount of vinegar. This is because vinegar is acidic and can neutralize capsaicin. It is also a good idea to wash your hands with hot water, because capsaicin will produce irritating evaporation under high temperature. Although it is not as good as alcohol and vinegar, the effect is worse than cold water.

Other methods:

Capsaicin is soluble in ethanol and alkaline aqueous solutions, but insoluble in cold water. In industry, capsaicin is extracted from chili peppers using edible alcohol as an extractant. Therefore, based on this principle, in life, you can apply alcohol to dissolve the capsaicin on your hands. After cutting peppers, you can wipe your hands in one direction with an alcohol cotton ball, then wash your hands with clean water, and then dry them. Do this three times until the symptoms are relieved.

In addition, you can also wash your hands with a small amount of vinegar. This is because vinegar is acidic and can neutralize capsaicin. If there is no medical alcohol or vinegar, washing your hands with hot water is also a good idea, because capsaicin will produce irritating evaporation under high temperature. Although it is not as effective as alcohol and vinegar, it is worse than cold water.

Also, when cutting peppers, do not pinch them with your fingernails. Instead, press them with the tips of your fingers. If your fingernails touch the peppers, it will easily cause a burning sensation on your skin. So this problem will not occur if you press it with your fingertips.
