The Hand Yangming Large Intestine Meridian is a very important acupuncture point located on the human hand. You can massage or simply tap this acupuncture point at ordinary times. This can promote the smooth flow of qi and blood, and relieve the pain caused by poor circulation of qi and blood. However, to achieve good results, you must find the correct position and the massage method must be correct. In addition, the Hand Yangming Large Intestine Meridian also has the following applications. Application of Hand Yangming Large Intestine Meridian in Traditional Chinese Medicine: 1. Meridians’ main diseases The patient gets sick when moving, suffers from toothache and swollen neck. It is responsible for diseases caused by body fluids, such as yellow eyes, dry mouth, runny nose and nosebleed, throat congestion, pain in the front of the shoulder and arm, and pain in the thumb and index finger that cannot be used. If there is excess qi, there will be heat and swelling where the pulse passes; if there is deficiency qi, there will be cold and shivering. (Lingshu Meridians) Abnormalities in this meridian will cause the following symptoms: toothache and swelling of the cheeks. This meridian point is mainly used to treat symptoms related to "jin": blurred eyes, dry mouth, clear nasal discharge or bleeding, sore throat, pain in the front of the shoulder and upper arm, pain in the index finger, and difficulty in movement. When the Qi is excessive, the parts along the meridians will become hot and swollen; when the Qi is insufficient, the parts will become cold and trembling, and it will be difficult to warm up. 2. Hand Yangming Collaterals The branch of the Hand Yangming Meridian is called Pianli, which is three inches away from the wrist and branches off to Taiyin. Its branch goes up along the arm, along the shoulder joint, up to the cheek and on the side of the teeth. Its branch enters the ear and joins the Zongmai. The diseases it causes: if it is excessive, it will cause tooth decay and deafness; if it is deficient, it will cause cold teeth and numbness of the diaphragm, depending on how it is treated (Lingshu Jingmai). The hand yangming collateral meridian, named Pianli, branches out three inches behind the wrist joint and goes towards the hand taiyin meridian; one branch goes up along the arm, crosses the acromion, ascends to the mandibular angle, and spreads across the roots of the teeth; another branch enters the ear and meets the various meridians (Zongmai) gathered in the ear. Its symptoms: Excessive symptoms include tooth decay pain and deafness; Deficiency symptoms include cold teeth and chest and diaphragm obstruction. It can be treated by using the hand Yangming Luo point. 3. Yangming Meridian of the Hand The main meridian of the Hand Yangming meridian starts from the hand and goes along the chest and breast, separates from the shoulder joint, enters the scapula, goes down to the large intestine, belongs to the lung, goes up along the throat, and exits the supraclavicular pelvis. It is consistent with Yangming (Lingshu Jingbie). The branch of the Hand Yangming Meridian runs from the hand to the chest, branches out at the acromion, enters the upper part of the clavicle, descends to the large intestine, belongs to the lungs, goes up along the throat, emerges from the supraclavicular pelvis, and still joins the Hand Yangming Meridian. 4. Hand Yangming Meridian Muscles The tendons of the hand yangming meridian start from the tips of the thumb and index finger and end at the wrist; go up along the arm and end at the outside of the elbow; go up the arm and end at the shoulder joint. Its branches go around the shoulder blade and hug the spine; the straight ones go from the shoulder joint to the neck. Its branches go up to the cheek and end at (page 9); the straight ones go up from the front of the hand sun, go up to the left corner, connect with the head, and go down to the right chin. Symptoms: pain and cramps in the affected area, inability to lift shoulders, and inability to look left or right (Lingshu Jingjin). The hand yangming meridian tendons start from the radial end of the index finger and end at the back of the wrist; go up along the forearm and end at the outside of the elbow; go up through the outside of the upper arm and end at the acromion. The branches go around the scapula and hug the sides of the spine; the straight ones go up the neck from the acromion. The branch goes up to the cheek and ends at the zygomatic region beside the nose; the straight branch runs in front of the hand-taiyang meridian tendons, up to the frontal angle, spreads out on the head, and goes down to the opposite side of the chin. Symptoms: Discomfort, soreness and cramps may occur in the parts where the disease passes, the shoulder joints cannot be raised high, and the neck cannot be turned to the sides. 5. Hand Yangming acupoints There are 20 acupoints on one side of this meridian, 14 of which are located on the radial side of the back of the upper limb, and 6 are located on the shoulder, neck and face. They are Shangyang, Erjian, Sanjian, Hegu, Yangxi, Pianli, Wenliu, Xialian, Shanglian, Shousanli, Quchi, Elbow, Shouwuli, Bihuan, Jianyu, Jugu, Tianding, Futu, Kouheliao and Yingxiang. The acupoints of this meridian are mainly used to treat diseases of the head, face, five senses, throat, mental illness, fever and other diseases along the meridians. Shangyang, Hegu and Quchi are often used to treat fever; Hegu is often used to treat diseases of the head, face and five senses; Hegu and Quchi are often used to treat gastrointestinal diseases; Shangyang and Hegu can be used to treat throat diseases; Hegu, Quchi, Shousanli, Bi'e and Jianyu are often used to treat shoulder and arm pain; Hegu and Yingxiang are often used to treat nasal diseases. When needling Tianding and Futu, attention should be paid to the angle and depth. |
