What are the bad effects of tooth polishing on teeth

Nowadays, more and more people are paying attention to their appearance and image, especially the requirements for teeth are gradually improving. However, there are many bad habits in daily life that have some impact on teeth, such as yellow teeth, smoke stains, and dental calculus. Although the teeth have such phenomena, there are many professional oral care methods that can solve these problems. All you need to do is whiten and polish the teeth.

What are the disadvantages of tooth polishing?

1. Bacteremia:

The rotation of the polisher can damage the gingival tissue and may lead to bacteremia. Once discovered, it should be treated promptly.

2. Wear of tooth structure:

It may cause cementum removal, dentin exposure, tooth sensitivity, and require a high level of technical skills from the doctor;

3. Pulp damage:

Polishing tools that rotate too fast or too little abrasive can cause discomfort or pain to the patient;

4. Gum damage:

Running the polisher at high speed or using it for too long can cause gum damage.

What are the precautions for teeth polishing and whitening?

1. After adding water to the polishing sand, you need to use a polishing cup to remove the soft scale and plaque on the surface of the teeth;

2. During the entire treatment process, the customer must wear goggles to prevent foreign objects from falling into the eyes;

4. Before using the mouth opener, apply lip balm to the customer to avoid damaging the corners of the mouth; pay attention to the direction when placing the mouth opener, with the longer side facing down to prevent the tongue from protruding;

5. Before applying gum protector, be sure to dry the tooth surface and gum margin, otherwise the gum protector cannot strictly seal the gingival sulcus, which will cause bleaching of the gum margin; if there is a wedge-shaped defect at the neck of the tooth and severe enamel cracks, use gum protector to cover it to avoid discomfort to the patient during the treatment process;

6. The whitening agent needs to be mixed into a paste. When mixing, be careful not to add all the liquid into the powder to make the paste too thin, but not too thick. Generally, it is required to mix it until the paste does not drip when picked up with a matching small brush. Unused whitening agents cannot be reused, because when peroxide comes into contact with air, the effective ingredients in it will immediately decrease, which will directly affect the treatment effect;

7. During the operation, be careful not to drop the whitening agent into the customer's mouth. After the first eight minutes, use a strong straw to drain the whitening agent as much as possible; at this time, do not rinse with clean water. For teeth affected by tetracycline or other discolored teeth caused by drug effects, experts recommend adjusting the exposure time to ten minutes each time. For patients with fluorosis, the exposure time can be reduced to six minutes each time due to the high permeability of enamel.
