Nowadays, medicine is developing rapidly. When people have health problems, there are more and more treatments that can relieve the symptoms. Nowadays, one of the more common treatment methods is electrotherapy. The effect of this treatment method is relatively good, but there are still some side effects. Even long-term use of this treatment method may lead to complications in patients, such as nausea and vomiting, which are still some common complications. Like any other treatment, ECT has its own set of side effects and complications. Common complications of modern modified electroconvulsive therapy are headache, nausea, vomiting and reversible memory loss. The incidence of memory loss is relatively high. Foreign studies have found that at least 1/3 of patients experienced significant memory decline after electrotherapy. However, it is generally believed that the effect of electroconvulsive therapy on memory is limited and usually only temporary. Clinically, these symptoms generally improve on their own after treatment and do not require any treatment. In addition to the above-mentioned side effects, modern electrotherapy has many disadvantages. First of all, electroconvulsive therapy is relatively complicated to implement and has certain risks. It requires general anesthesia and oxygen inhalation, and it is difficult to carry out in grassroots hospitals. Secondly, since electroconvulsive therapy requires high technology and equipment, the cost of treatment is also high. Furthermore, like drug therapy, electroconvulsive therapy cannot be a permanent solution and requires maintenance treatment, otherwise the disease will relapse in many patients. Therefore, it is generally recommended to use medication or occasional electrotherapy as follow-up maintenance treatment within 6 months after electrotherapy. Methods to prevent side effects of electrotherapy: Before electrotherapy, you must ensure good sleep quality, adequate nutrition and water absorption. Electrotherapy has an electrochemical effect on the human body, which is an ionization effect in physics. If there is not enough water and nutrition, long-term microcurrent electrotherapy of at least 1 hour will cause electrotherapy exhaustion. To eliminate the side effects of electrotherapy, the key is to take a proper rest during long-term electrotherapy. After 30 minutes of electrotherapy, you should rest for a while and replenish water. The time should be controlled within 2 hours. After the electrotherapy, you should replenish adequate nutrition. In this way, the symptoms will be eliminated, the person will not be exhausted, and the memory will not be affected. Like any other treatment, electrotherapy has its own specific side effects and complications. Common complications of modern modified electrotherapy are headache, nausea, vomiting and reversible memory loss. |
