4. What does high-sensitivity C-reactive protein mean?

High-sensitivity C-reactive protein is an acute phase protein, which will increase in many cases, such as inflammation, trauma, myocardial infarction, major surgery, malignant tumors, etc.; while the erythrocyte sedimentation rate is less than 15mm for men and less than 20mm for women, which is normal. Increased levels are seen in various inflammations, such as tuberculosis, rheumatic diseases, etc., and are often used clinically to judge the activity of the disease and as a dynamic observation indicator, tissue damage and necrosis, such as after surgery or trauma, myocardial infarction, etc.; malignant tumors, which can be used as a standard for screening malignant tumors and judging the efficacy, hyperglobulinemia, such as systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis and other diseases; hypercholesterolemia.

High-sensitivity C-reactive protein mainly reflects the synthetic function of the human liver. Whether it is too high or too low, it indicates that the liver disease is worsening. Therefore, when the normal value of high-sensitivity C-reactive protein is abnormal, it should be checked and diagnosed in time to find out the main cause of the abnormal high-sensitivity C-reactive protein, and actively take targeted prevention and treatment measures. Only when the condition improves, the high-sensitivity C-reactive protein will slowly return to normal.
