Is dishwashing liquid harmful to pregnant women?

In our family, we like to add detergent when washing dishes, fruits and vegetables. It can wash them very clean and remove oil. Some detergents can also kill bacteria and disinfect. Dishwashing detergent is a daily necessity for every household. However, we have also heard that detergent contains many chemical ingredients. Long-term use will cause certain harm to the body, especially pregnant women who usually stay away from chemical substances. So, is detergent harmful to pregnant women?

Can pregnant women come into contact with detergent?

Pregnant women can come into contact with detergents, but only in small amounts and for short periods of time. The ingredients of dishwashing liquid are mostly chemical ingredients. They will not be absorbed by the human body if used for a short time. However, if contacted for a long time and in large quantities, they will inevitably penetrate into the body through the skin. This will have some impact on pregnant women. However, using small amounts and infrequently will hardly have much impact on the body.

If a pregnant woman is concerned about detergents, she can use gloves, try to avoid direct contact with detergents, and shorten the time and frequency of use. Can pregnant women use dishwashing liquid? In addition to following the above tips, you must also make a specific analysis based on the actual conditions of different people, because everyone's physique and sensitivity are different. If you are a very sensitive pregnant woman, you must be careful and just wash the dishes with warm water. If you can't wash them clean, you can only ask your family for help.

How to use dishwashing liquid correctly

Dishwashing liquid has a good ability to remove food grease, but it can cause certain damage to the skin, so the contact time should not exceed 40 minutes each time (you can wear plastic gloves before washing). After use, rinse with clean water and apply skin care oil to prevent skin aging. If the skin surface is damaged, it is not advisable to use detergent.

When washing dishes and food with detergent, rinse them with clean water as much as possible. Generally, non-greasy tableware does not need to use detergent; fruits and vegetables generally use less detergent; when detergent must be used, it should be diluted before use, and be sure to rinse it several times.

There are two main ways to wash dishes with detergent: ⑴ When soaking and washing, dilute the detergent with water to 200 to 500 times (the washing concentration should be 0.2% to 0.5%), and the soaking time should be 2 to 5 minutes. After wiping with a sponge or rag, rinse with running water. ⑵ Pour the detergent directly onto the sponge or rag, dip it in a small amount of water and scrub the dishes (be sure to wear rubber gloves), then rinse them with running water. It is recommended to use the second washing method, which has a high washing concentration and a better washing effect. Even for heavier oil stains, it can be better washed.

Taking washing fruits and vegetables as an example, the general steps are to first rinse off the dirt on the surface of the fruits and vegetables with clean water, and then add detergent to soak for 5 to 10 minutes. Be careful not to add too much detergent (the concentration is generally around 0.2%, or follow the instructions for use of the detergent) to avoid incomplete rinsing and residue; the soaking time should not be too long to avoid excessive detergent penetration into the fruits and vegetables, resulting in the loss of vitamins and a decrease in nutritional value. After soaking, rinse with running water 2 to 3 times, and then pick and cut the fruits and vegetables.
