Many rural people know about thrips, which are pests that often appear on crops. They will eat the very tender leaves on the crops, and will also eat the flowers and plants of the crops. Therefore, if this pest appears on the crops, the flowers will soon wither, and then the crops will wither. Therefore, for people who engage in agricultural planting, preventing and controlling thrips is an important task. The specific methods are as follows. First, agricultural prevention In early spring, remove weeds and dead branches and leaves from the fields, burn them in a concentrated area or bury them deep to eliminate overwintering adults and nymphs. Strengthen fertilizer and water management to promote healthy growth of plants and reduce damage. Second, physical prevention Taking advantage of the thrips' tendency to attract blue colors, blue sticky boards are set up in the fields to lure and kill adult insects. The height of the sticky boards should be at the same level as the crops. Third, chemical control Conventional pesticides such as imidacloprid and acetamiprid are routinely used, but their effectiveness is gradually decreasing. Currently, the following control methods are being promoted internationally: 1) Thrips and planthoppers at the rice seedling stage: Thiamethoxam varieties are recommended, the imported variety Ruisheng 30% Thiamethoxam suspension seed coating agent, and the domestic trial variety Bairui 35% Thiamethoxam suspension seed coating agent; 2) Vegetables: Solanum, melon, and beans use 25% thiamethoxam water dispersible granules at 3000-5000 times the root to reduce the occurrence of viral diseases and the damage caused by underground pests. The imported variety is Aktai, and the well-known domestic variety is Da Gongniu; 3) Fruit trees: For crops that are severely damaged by thrips, such as mangoes, 25% thiamethoxam can be sprayed, but the dosage should be increased, such as 800 times spray. At the same time, microemulsion avermectin can be used in a tank mix. 4) Tobacco: Root irrigation before transplanting or root spraying when establishing, you can use imidacloprid, thiamethoxam, clothianidin; 1000 times of 25% imidacloprid, 3000-5000 times of 25% thiamethoxam. 5) Highly resistant thrips, such as the thrips on beans, eggplants, peppers and other crops in Guangxi and Shouguang in 2014. There are many types of thrips with extremely strong resistance. Conventional ingredients such as thiamethoxam and imidacloprid are difficult to control. Shouguang currently has a sand thrips product from Zhengzhou Shalongda that performs very well. It can kill thrips in just 10 minutes after being contacted, and the mortality rate can reach more than 90% within 24 hours. It performs very well! Fourth, key points of prevention and treatment 1. According to the characteristics of thrips that are dormant during the day and active at night, it is recommended to use the medicine in the afternoon. 2. Thrips are highly secretive, so the pesticides need to be systemic or have silicone additives added, and try to choose pesticides with a long lasting effect. 3. If conditions permit, it is recommended to combine fumigation with chemicals and foliar spraying. 4. Take precautions in advance and don’t wait until the disease becomes widespread before using medication. When planting vegetables during high temperatures, if there is no mulch, it is best to spray the lower middle part of the plant and the ground at the same time, because these places are the habitats of thrips nymphs. 5. Tips for applying pesticides to thrips: There are two forms of activity of thrips, one is leaf thrips (called head thrips in the south), which are active on leaves or growth points, and the other is flower thrips, which are active in flowers. If it is leaf thrips, observe the pattern of activity and apply pesticides at the time when there are more of them. If it is flower thrips, be sure to get up early before 9 o'clock to apply the pesticides, because the flowers are open early in the morning. When applying the pesticides, use the sprayer to hold the spray upwards for the best effect. If you spray flower thrips in the afternoon, the flowers have closed and the effect is not as good as if you get up early. If you spray early in the morning, more than 70% of the insects will be dead in the afternoon of the same day, and basically all of them will be dead in the afternoon of the next day. There are two ways to kill insects with pesticides, one is contact killing and the other is stomach poison. The industry rule is to use contact killing instead of stomach poison, that is, try to do contact killing, and rely on stomach poison for those that cannot be killed by contact. At present, it only takes 10 minutes to contact kill the sand thrips in Zhengzhou Sharonda. If you kill them by direct spraying, it is best to apply the pesticide this morning and go to see it tomorrow afternoon. They will be killed cleanly! Special note: The effect is best on sunny days! It is best to apply the pesticide on a sunny day. |
