For non-smokers, the harm of secondhand smoke is twice that of smokers. Although they do not smoke directly, the harmful substances inhaled will not be reduced. Some studies have shown that secondhand smoke can cause cervical precancerous lesions. Smoking not only exposes addicts to the risk of lung cancer, but also increases the possibility of innocent women who inhale secondhand smoke to develop cervical precancerous lesions. Women who are exposed to secondhand smoke for a long time have a 7.2 times higher risk of developing cervical precancer. This project is for 260 women with early cervical cancer and cervical cancer, and 507 women with normal smear tests. The study found that women who do not smoke but are exposed to secondhand smoke have a 2.73 times higher risk of developing cervical precancerous lesions; if they are exposed to more than 10 cigarettes of secondhand smoke per day, the risk ratio increases to 3.97 times. Experts said that the smoking rate of women in Europe and America is about 28%, while the smoking rate of women in China is only 3% to 4%, but cervical cancer is the number one killer of female cancer. However, the smoking rate of women over 40 years old in Taiwan is as high as 55% to 62%. This study aims to find out the correlation between secondhand smoke and precancerous lesions of the cervix in women. There are many risk factors for cervical cancer, and infection with human papillomavirus is more common. Secondhand smoke and cervical precancerous lesions are mainly caused by polycyclic aromatic (pAH) compounds released by cigarettes entering human organs through the blood circulation. The study found that women who were exposed to secondhand smoke for a long time had higher cervical pAH concentrations than those who were not exposed to secondhand smoke. If precancerous lesions of the cervix are not treated, half will degenerate or become cancerous. For our own health, we must bravely refuse secondhand smoke; it is really impossible to quit smoking as a smoking addict. If you must smoke, it is best to smoke outdoors to avoid hurting yourself and others. Through the above research, it is not difficult to see the relationship between secondhand smoke and cervical cancer. Secondhand smoke can easily cause cervical precancerous lesions. For the health of children, most female compatriots should stay away from secondhand smoke environments. |
