What is the treatment for tooth sensitivity

I believe that many of my friends will feel that their teeth are particularly soft and as if their teeth are irritated if they eat some sour foods. In fact, this kind of phenomenon is caused by tooth sensitivity. Tooth sensitivity caused by acidic foods is just one example. Some friends may also be sensitive to spicy taste, hardness of food, etc. Tooth sensitivity can actually be treated with medication or specific toothpaste. For example, strontium chloride has strong adsorption to teeth and can effectively reduce the degree of sensitivity.

1. Strontium chloride: a neutral salt. Highly water soluble and very low toxicity. Put it in toothpaste and use it, which is convenient and safe. 10% strontium chloride toothpaste is widely used abroad and there are also products in China. For local application, use 75% strontium chloride glycerin or 25% strontium chloride solution. Among the various drugs that have been widely studied, strontium has shown strong adsorption to all calcified tissues, including dentin. The effect of strontium on dentin hypersensitivity is believed to be caused by occlusion of open dentinal tubules in the form of calcified strontium apatite.

2. Fluoride: There are many forms of fluoride that can be used to treat dentin hypersensitivity. Fluoride ions can reduce the diameter of dentinal tubules, thereby reducing hydraulic conduction. In vitro experiments also proved that acidified sodium fluoride solution or 2% neutral sodium fluoride solution can reduce hydraulic conduction by 24.5% and 17.9% respectively; the reduction of hydraulic conduction by sodium fluoride solution iontophoresis was as high as 33%.

3. Ammonia silver nitrate: Isolate from moisture, wipe the allergic area dry, apply ammonia silver nitrate solution, and then reduce it with clove oil until it turns black. The protein silver and reduced silver produced after reduction are precipitated in the dentinal tubules and can isolate conduction. When using, pay attention to protecting the soft tissue in the mouth and avoid burns.

4. Silver iodide: Apply 3% iodine tincture for 0.5 minutes, then apply 10%-30% silver nitrate solution. You can see grayish white precipitate attached to the allergic area. After 0.5 minutes, apply it 1-2 more times in the same way and it will be effective. This is done by using silver nitrate to coagulate the protein in the hard tissue of the tooth to form a protective layer. The iodine tincture reacts with silver nitrate to produce new silver iodide that is deposited in the dentinal tubules, thereby blocking the conduction.

5. Electrocoagulation method : Avoid moisture, use a small cotton ball dipped in 10% formalin solution to wipe the allergic point, use a spherical electrode for electrocoagulation for 1 second, replace the formalin solution cotton ball, and wait for 5 seconds. The electrocoagulation time should not exceed 1 second and the interval time should not be less than 5 seconds. This is done 10 to 15 times per visit.
