What is the best way to treat Sjogren's disease?

Sjogren's syndrome is a type of autoimmunity. It is an immune disease that occurs when there is a problem with the body's performance. This disease is difficult to treat, and there is no complete cure so far. It can only be delayed but not cured. Therefore, when treating Sjögren's disease, you must pay more attention and provide care from all aspects to alleviate the symptoms of Sjögren's disease.

1. Delayed treatment

Patients with Sjögren's syndrome should develop a treatment plan in consultation with doctors from multiple disciplines, including rheumatologists, ophthalmologists, and dentists. It is a chronic inflammatory autoimmune disease that currently has no cure. The purpose of treatment is mainly to relieve symptoms and prevent the progression of the disease, thereby improving the patient's quality of life and prolonging their survival.

2. Symptomatic treatment

Patients without multisystem damage were given symptomatic treatment. People with dry mouth can drink appropriate amounts of water and chew sugar-free gum to relieve symptoms. They can also take cyclopentylthione and other symptomatic treatments orally. People with dry eyes can use artificial tears to relieve dry eye symptoms, and those with dry skin can use appropriate moisturizers. For non-specific symptoms, such as fatigue and poor sleep quality, corresponding symptomatic treatment with Chinese and Western medicines can be given.

3. Biological agents:

It has been confirmed that abnormal activation of autoreactive B cells is an important factor in the development of SS. More and more clinical studies have shown that B cell depletion therapy using CD20 and anti-CD22 antibodies can improve the condition of SS. Rituximab has achieved good results in patients with pSS who have poor response to conventional treatment and have severe arthritis, severe cytopenia, peripheral neuropathy and related lymphoma. However, whether this drug can ultimately change the course of SS and eliminate the abnormal immune response of SS exocrine glands requires further observation and research.
