What are the symptoms of pancreatic tumors?

Pancreatic tumors are relatively dangerous. Generally, pancreatic tumors are malignant and rarely benign. Therefore, once abdominal cramps occur, and there may also be symptoms of jaundice, weight loss, fever, etc., you must pay attention to it, check it in time, and treat it as soon as possible.

Symptoms of pancreatic tumors

1. Abdominal pain is an early symptom of pancreatic tumor, which is more common in pancreatic body and tail cancer. It is located in the upper abdomen, around the umbilicus or right upper abdomen. It is characterized by colic, paroxysmal or persistent, progressively worsening dull pain, mostly radiating to the waist and back, aggravated in the supine position and at night, and the pain can be relieved when sitting, standing, leaning forward or walking.

2. Jaundice may occur at a certain stage of the disease. Generally, jaundice is more common in pancreatic head cancer and appears earlier. Jaundice is usually not present when the cancer is limited to the body and tail. Jaundice is mostly obstructive, progressively deepens, and is accompanied by symptoms such as skin itching.

3. About 90% of patients experience rapid and significant weight loss, which is often accompanied by cachexia in the late stage of pancreatic cancer.

4. Fatigue and loss of appetite are very common, and may be accompanied by gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, constipation, abdominal distension, and nausea. Some cases may develop steatorrhea, hyperglycemia and diabetes.

5. Fever may occur due to tumor ulceration or infection, or secondary bile duct infection.

6. Some pancreatic body and tail tumors may cause thrombophlebitis of the limb veins, resulting in local limb edema.

7. In advanced cases of pancreatic cancer, ascites may occur, and hard and swollen metastatic lymph nodes may be palpated in the left supraclavicular or anterior rectal fossa.
