What is the best treatment for cheilitis?

Cheilitis is a relatively common disease. Cheilitis is also called stomatitis. There are many reasons for this inflammation. The more common ones are some oral diseases and some allergies. If the treatment is delayed or improperly treated, it is easy to cause some other symptoms and even cause systemic reactions. Therefore, it should be treated in time. There are many treatment methods, including local treatment and systemic treatment.

1. Local treatment

(1) For blisters or obvious local redness and swelling, apply 3% boric acid solution or normal saline until the damage subsides.

(2) Apply 1%-2% gentian violet solution to the affected area twice a day.

(3) Apply 3% acyclovir ointment topically several times a day.

(4) Apply 0.5% neomycin ointment topically.

2. Systemic treatment

(1) Immunoglobulin, intramuscular injection, once every other day, for a total of 3 to 4 times.

(2) Cimetidine: Oral, 3 to 4 times a day, for 5 consecutive days.

(3) Take vitamin C, vitamin B2 or vitamin B complex orally.

(4) Acyclovir:

Orally, 5 times a day. For severe patients, the drug can be administered intravenously. Acyclovir can be added to 5% glucose injection and dripped intravenously, 2 to 3 times a day for 5 consecutive days.

(5) Antibiotics (penicillin, cephalosporin) should be used for secondary infection.
