How is Takayasu's arteritis treated?

1. Principles of medical treatment

3. Surgery

(1) For brachiocephalic type, artificial vascular reconstruction, intimal thrombectomy, etc. can be performed via extrathoracic or intrathoracic approaches.

(2) Patients with severe stenosis of the thoracic or abdominal aorta can undergo artificial vascular reconstruction.

(3) For patients with renal artery stenosis, renal autotransplantation or vascular reconstruction can be performed. For patients with obvious atrophy of the affected kidney, nephrectomy can be performed.
