Insomnia is probably caused by not using the right pillow

No matter how long they sleep, many middle-aged and young people will suffer from insomnia and cannot fall asleep before the time every night. This phenomenon is not only related to the normal biological clock of the human body, but also most people who often suffer from insomnia may have it related to the wrong choice of pillow, such as stiff neck, snoring, and pillow that is too high or too low. Because there is no comfortable sleeping environment, insomnia disorders occur.

The trouble with uncomfortable pillows

Stiff neck - Insomnia

A pillow that is too high will destroy the natural curvature of the cervical spine, causing the muscles and ligaments behind the neck to become tense and stiff. If you wake up in the morning and feel your neck suddenly become stiff and difficult to move, and if you haven't done any strenuous exercise the day before, you should consider whether you have a stiff neck because your pillow is too high.

Snoring - Insomnia

If the pillow is too low, the lower jaw will naturally lift up, the throat will be compressed, and the uvula in the mouth will naturally droop, blocking the respiratory tract. Especially when inhaling, the soft palate at the upper back of the mouth vibrates, and as air enters, a "humming" sound of snoring is made. So if you often hear people complain about your snoring, try putting a thick towel under your head to increase the height of your pillow. Moreover, snoring not only reduces your own sleep quality, but also causes people around you to be unable to sleep at night and suffer insomnia.

Puffy eyes

If the pillow is too soft, the head will sink into it, the blood flow will be too concentrated, the pressure on the blood vessel walls will increase, and the facial muscles will be stressed, causing swollen eyes and a slight headache when you wake up in the morning. If you often notice puffy eyes, consider switching to a firmer pillow.

Drooling

A pillow that is too hard can compress the carotid artery, causing poor blood circulation, which in turn can cause cerebral hypoxia and local microcirculation disorders. The direct response to hypoxia is increased saliva secretion and habitual mouth breathing for a long time. If you always find a large wet spot on your pillowcase, you should consider changing to a softer pillow.
