What are the common allergic skin diseases

1. Urticaria

Urticaria usually starts with itching of the skin all over the body, followed by the appearance of wheals of varying sizes that are bright red or pale. This type of wheal often occurs suddenly, disappears within a few minutes to a few hours or a dozen hours, leaves no trace, and can recur several times a day. Some patients experience abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting; some patients also have fevers of varying degrees; in severe cases, they may experience shortness of breath, wheezing, difficulty breathing, and even shock symptoms such as pale complexion and low blood pressure. Acute urticaria will stop after a few days to 1-2 weeks.

2. Eczema

Eczema is a common allergic skin disease which can be divided into acute and chronic types. It can occur in any part of the body, but is more common on the face, head, around the ears, calves, armpits, elbows, scrotum, vulva and around the anus. The cause of the disease is unclear, and allergic constitution may be the main cause of the disease. Acute eczema is often distributed in different areas, and the rash has various forms, such as erythema, papules, blisters, erosions, exudate and crusting. The itching is severe and scratching may cause infection. The course of the disease is about 2-3 weeks, but it can easily become chronic and recur.

3. Contact dermatitis

Contact dermatitis refers to the local occurrence of erythema, edema, itching and pain after the skin comes into contact with a certain substance. In severe cases, blisters and peeling may occur. Substances that can cause contact dermatitis on the skin include jewelry, watch chains, glasses frames, sandals, synthetic fabrics, topical medications, chemicals, cosmetics, etc. Once you find the above symptoms, immediately look for the items that cause allergies and stop contacting them. People who are prone to contact dermatitis are mostly allergic people.

4. Drug rash

Drug rash Some drugs can cause allergic skin reactions, mainly manifested as skin erythema, purpura, blisters, epidermal relaxation, itching and pain, sometimes accompanied by low fever. There is usually no pigmentation after the rash subsides. Allergies to western medicines are more common, such as allergies to penicillin, sulfonamides (such as SMZ), and analgin. Certain ingredients in traditional Chinese medicine can also act as allergens. Herbs that have been reported to cause allergic reactions include Houttuynia cordata, Brucea javanica, Radix Trichosanthis, borneol, and rhubarb. Chinese patent medicines such as Liushen Pills, Niuhuang Jiedu Tablets, Compound Angelica Injection, Danshen Shuxin Tablets, etc. After a drug rash occurs, the drug must be discontinued immediately.
