Can green tea be boiled

Can green tea be boiled

Green tea is not suitable to be boiled. Green tea is a non-fermented tea. If it is boiled, it will lose its refreshing tea aroma and the color will no longer be attractive. Usually fermented tea can be boiled and drunk. The boiled tea tastes richer and has a roasted aroma. It is generally more suitable to brew green tea with water at about 85 degrees, which will not lose the nutrients in the tea and will also make the taste fresher.

Can green tea be brewed?

Green tea cannot be boiled. Green tea is a tea that has not been fermented. It retains the natural substances of fresh leaves and contains more nutrients such as tea polyphenols, catechins, chlorophyll, caffeine, amino acids, vitamins, etc. Here is how to brew green tea:

There are two ways to brew green tea:

The first is the top-pouring method, which is suitable for high-end and famous green tea with a tight appearance. That is, first pour hot water at 75-85 degrees Celsius into the cup.

The second is the bottom-pouring method, which is to put the tea leaves first and then directly pour hot water at about 85 degrees, which is suitable for ordinary green tea.

Properly brewing green tea can make it taste better and be healthier. There are certain things to pay attention to when brewing tea, especially the water temperature.

General green tea brewing method and precautions

1. When brewing green tea, the water temperature should be controlled at around 80℃ ~ 90℃. If you are brewing green tea powder, you can use warm water at 40℃ ~ 60℃. The serving size is 2 grams of green tea powder with 450 ml of boiled water.

2. Do not drink the first brew of tea. After pouring hot water, shake it and pour it out.

3. The green tea powder should not be brewed too strong, otherwise it will affect the secretion of gastric juice. It is best not to drink it on an empty stomach.

What kind of tea is suitable for brewing

The way tea is brewed determines its taste. Let me first talk about what kind of tea is not suitable for brewing: unfermented tea, slightly fermented tea, fresh tea buds, such as unfermented green tea, slightly fermented yellow tea (fermentation degree 10%-20%). Boiling is not recommended.

It is recommended not to use water below 90 degrees to brew tea. For example, for green tea, too high water temperature will destroy its rich vitamin C, more caffeine will be leached out, and the tea soup will turn yellow and taste bitter, losing the freshness and fragrance of green tea.

Oolong tea, new tea is better for brewing, old tea is better for boiling

The aroma of oolong tea is the most prominent, with rich floral and fruity aroma and just the right roasted aroma, and it tastes very charming.

New oolong tea is generally not boiled. Quickly brewing it with boiling water can better stimulate its high fragrance and sweetness. Boiling tea can easily produce a cooked smell and destroy the freshness of the tea itself, so it is not recommended to boil it for drinking.

For old oolong teas like aged Tieguanyin and aged rock tea, the astringency has faded and the taste characteristics have become more stable. After brewing it several times, you can boil it again and you will find a different taste.
