The characteristics of CT images include nodular shadows, irregular shadows of bronchial vascular walls, linear shadows and lung field concentration. Nodules can appear in the center of the lobule, pleura, around veins, in the irregular shadows of venules and bronchial vascular walls.

High-resolution CT images are significantly better than ordinary chest X-rays for the diagnosis of interstitial lung disease and are very valuable for the identification of early pulmonary fibrosis and honeycomb lung. In particular, CT imaging has unique diagnostic value in determining ILD, which is often characterized by peripheral lesions.
