What are the symptoms of late-stage Parkinson's?

Parkinson's syndrome is what we often call Alzheimer's disease. As you can imagine, its main patients are the elderly. Late-stage patients often show symptoms of weight loss, decreased olfactory function, drooling, mood and intellectual changes, etc. If the elderly at home show these symptoms, they must be treated in time.

1. Weight loss: This is a common symptom in Parkinson's patients in the late stages. Symptoms may be caused by reduced food intake due to various complications, but sometimes the cause of weight loss is not clear. The patient's weight loss will not occur suddenly, but gradually, usually after several years. Of course, a small number of patients will experience symptoms of weight loss within a few months or even weeks.

2. Decreased sense of smell. Some patients will experience decreased and loss of sense of smell in the late stages. Ninety percent of patients have scores below the normal range for distinguishing different odors in olfactory discrimination tests, and 75 percent of patients have decreased sensitivity to the acute olfactory threshold.

3. Drooling: Many patients will experience drooling in the late stages of the disease. The main reason is that the patient's lips cannot be completely closed due to the impact of the disease.

4. Emotional and intellectual changes: Patients may also experience emotional and intellectual changes in the late stages, mainly manifested as long-term low mood or slowly occurring symptoms of intellectual decline.

What are the symptoms of late-stage Parkinson's disease? Common symptoms include weight loss, decreased sense of smell, drooling, mood and intellectual changes, etc. If the patient has the above symptoms, it means that the patient's condition has entered a more serious stage, so the patient must seize the time to receive treatment under the guidance of a doctor.
