What causes unilateral lower back pain?

The health of the waist is very important, because the waist is the most important support and balance part for people to stand and walk. When the waist is diseased, it will seriously affect the body's ability to move. For example, many people have difficulty walking and cannot squat when they have waist pain. Among them, unilateral waist pain is more common. So, what is the cause of unilateral waist pain?

1. Invasion by external pathogens

Low back pain is mostly caused by living in a damp environment, or sweating in the wind while working, wearing thin clothes, catching a cold in the rain, or seeking coolness in the summer, which leads to the loss of protection of the waist, allowing wind, cold, dampness and heat to invade, blocking the meridians, and causing poor circulation of qi and blood. Dampness is sticky, so when we are attacked by external pathogens, we are often troubled by dampness.

2. Physical weakness and aging

Insufficient congenital endowment, coupled with heavy labor and heavy lifting, or physical weakness due to long-term illness, or physical frailty due to old age, or irregular sexual activity, can lead to loss of kidney essence, malnutrition of the waist and cause low back pain.

3. Fall and stumble

Heavy lifting or violent twisting, falling, incorrect posture, improper force, holding the breath and sprains can lead to poor circulation of Qi and blood in the waist meridians, resulting in blockage of Qi and blood, and stagnation and pain.

The waist is the home of the kidneys, and is irrigated by the kidney's essence and energy. The kidney and bladder are exterior and interior to each other, and the Foot Taiyang Meridian passes through them. In addition, the Ren, Du, Chong and Dai meridians are also distributed throughout the body, so low back pain is related to the kidneys and other meridians.

The causes of low back pain are internal injuries, external infections, and falls and bruises. The basic pathogenesis is obstruction of tendons and veins and malnutrition of the waist. Internal injuries are mostly due to insufficient constitution, kidney deficiency and malnutrition of the waist. External injuries are mostly due to wind, cold, dampness and heat blocking the meridians, or sprains caused by labor, qi stagnation and blood stasis, and meridian blockage causing low back pain. The main pathogenesis of exogenous low back pain is that external evil blocks the meridians and causes poor circulation of qi and blood; internal low back pain is mostly caused by deficiency of kidney essence and qi, which causes the waist to lose its moisture, nourishment and warmth.
