How to determine pulpitis?

1. Spontaneous pain: Pulpitis causes spontaneous pain without any regular pattern and sometimes paroxysmal pain. Toothache occurs suddenly without any stimulation. In the early stage, the pain attack time is short and the relief time is long. In the late stage, the pain attack time is long and the relief time is short.

2. Severe pain at night: The pain of pulpitis is more severe at night than during the day, especially when lying down. It is more obvious. Patients often cannot fall asleep or are awakened by pain after falling asleep.

3. Pain caused by eating hot or cold food: In the early stage, cold and hot stimulation will aggravate toothache. If pulpitis is serious, it will be even more severe. Cold stimulation will not only not trigger toothache, but will relieve it. Therefore, patients often rely on breathing cold air or drinking cold water to relieve toothache, but after this cold stimulation, the toothache will come back immediately.

4. Severe cases can cause headaches: Patients with pulpitis who suffer from unbearable toothaches usually cannot accurately point out which tooth is painful. The pain is radiating and often involves pain in the head and face.
