Are there any side effects of canthoplasty surgery?

Although canthoplasty is a relatively minor type of micro-plastic surgery, it also has some side effects, so it must not be performed blindly. For example, it can easily cause tear duct rupture, scars, and loose eyelid skin.

(1) Lacrimal duct rupture. Because the tissue structure of the inner canthus is very delicate and complex, if the doctor's technical level is not enough or the surgical equipment and environment are relatively simple, it is very likely that other anatomical structures around the inner canthus will be damaged, causing sequelae such as lacrimal duct rupture.

(2) Cause scars. People with scar-prone constitutions are generally not recommended to undergo canthoplasty surgery, because it may leave ugly scars around the eyes after the operation. Not only will it fail to achieve the effect of beautification, but it will also leave an extra scar around the eyes. Of course, if the doctor's plastic surgery skills are not high enough, there is also a risk of causing scars.

(3) Loose eyelid skin. Not everyone is suitable for canthoplasty surgery. For example, people whose skin around their eyes has been loose for a long time are not suitable for canthoplasty surgery, because the surgery may leave sequelae of loose eyelid skin, which will make the plastic surgery effect counterproductive.
