Are thyroid nodules serious? Timely treatment can prevent cancer

Thyroid nodules can be benign or malignant. In many cases, thyroid nodules do not have any obvious symptoms, so they are easily ignored. If thyroid nodules are not treated in time, there is a high possibility that they will become malignant and lead to thyroid cancer.

1. Thyroid nodules are a very common disease and can be divided into benign and malignant types.

Clinically, the thyroid gland may present with a variety of diseases, thyroid nodules being one of them. According to statistics, for adults, 4 out of every 100 people may develop thyroid nodules. Thyroid nodules are not hyperthyroidism. They refer to the appearance of lumps in the thyroid gland that can move up and down with the thyroid gland with swallowing. It is a common clinical disease that can be caused by a variety of causes. Benign thyroid nodules mainly include nodular goiter, thyroid adenoma, etc.; malignant thyroid nodules are mainly thyroid cancer. Although malignant lesions are uncommon, they are difficult to identify before surgery. The most important thing is how to avoid missing the diagnosis of cancer.

2. Causes of thyroid nodules

1. Part of it may be closely related to the development of current detection technology. In the past, thyroid examinations during physical examinations were mostly performed using surgical palpation. The thyroid gland is located in a relatively hidden area, and small thyroid nodules are often difficult to detect. This is also related to the experience of the tester, so the detection rate of nodules is also very low.

2. If you consume too much iodine, nodules will also appear. For example, Wenzhou is located on the coast, and residents there have been eating large amounts of high-iodine seafood for a long time. They are not deficient in iodine themselves, and the iodized salt added to their daily diet may cause an overdose of iodine.

3. The patient has a history of neck X-ray exposure in childhood, because X-rays can cause changes in DNA.

4. As social pressure increases, women are more likely to experience significant endocrine changes.
