Side effects of ambroxol

All medicines have advantages and disadvantages, effects and precautions. Therefore, when taking medicines, it is not only necessary to understand the simple effects and functions of the medicines, but also the adverse reactions and related contraindications of the medicines themselves. Some individuals may have allergic reactions after taking ambroxol, and the common allergic reactions are nausea, vomiting or a burning sensation in the stomach. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding need to be careful when taking the medicine.

Adverse Reactions

Ambroxol hydrochloride and glucose injection is generally well tolerated, with mild upper gastrointestinal side effects (mainly heartburn, indigestion, and occasional nausea and vomiting). Allergic reactions rarely occur, mainly rash. Severe acute allergic reactions occur in very rare cases, but their relevance to ambroxol hydrochloride is not certain. Some of these patients are usually allergic to other substances.

Contraindications

It is contraindicated for those who are allergic to this product.

It is contraindicated for women during the first 3 months of pregnancy.

Precautions

1. This product cannot be mixed with other solutions with a pH greater than 6.3, because the increase in pH will lead to the precipitation of ambroxol free base.

Pregnant and lactating women

Preclinical trials and extensive clinical experience after 28 weeks of pregnancy have shown that this product has no adverse effects on pregnancy. However, the drug should be used with caution during pregnancy, especially in the first three months of pregnancy. The drug can enter the breast milk, but the therapeutic dose has no obvious effect on the infant.

Medication for Elderly Patients

Elderly patients should refer to the adult dosage for medication.

Drug interactions

The synergistic treatment of ambroxol hydrochloride and antibiotics (amoxicillin, cefuroxime, erythromycin, doxycycline) can increase the concentration of antibiotics in lung tissue, and there is no clinically relevant adverse reaction when used in combination with other drugs.

Overdose

There are no reports of overdose symptoms so far. If they occur, they should be treated symptomatically.
