Bone hyperplasia is relatively common in clinical practice, and knee joint bone hyperplasia is very common among middle-aged and elderly people. This type of problem must be treated in a timely manner. The treatment of knee bone hyperplasia is generally symptomatic and more targeted. Surgical treatment is also a method. 1. Symptomatic treatment There is no effective treatment for this disease, and symptomatic treatment is often used. If you feel pain, you can take some antipyretic and analgesic drugs or inject sodium hyaluronate; if you feel numbness, you can choose B vitamins; if you have swollen joints and effusion, you can give local extraction of the effusion or local blockade and other therapies. 2. Physical therapy Acupuncture can promote blood circulation and relieve pain, and can eliminate local edema and inflammation. Physical therapy massage can help improve local blood circulation and have anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. Physical therapy methods include wax therapy, heat therapy, magnetic therapy, ultrashort wave therapy, microwave therapy, infrared therapy, etc., which can improve local microcirculation and promote blood circulation and relieve pain. Traction can reduce the pressure of bone spurs on local nerves and tissues and temporarily relieve pain. However, for bone hyperplasia, the above treatment methods can only play an auxiliary role. 3. Surgery There are four main surgical treatments for knee osteoarthritis: (1) Arthroscopic treatment: Under anesthesia, a knee arthroscopy is inserted through the skin into the joint cavity. Under direct vision, the hyperplastic bone in the joint is removed, the joint surface is trimmed, and the loose bodies in the joint cavity are removed. (2) Tibial osteotomy One of the causes of severe knee bone hyperplasia and osteoarthritis is the change in the force line of the lower limbs. Therefore, surgical methods can be used to change (or adjust) the force line to achieve the purpose of treatment. A wedge-shaped osteotomy can be made below the tibial plateau, and then the force line can be adjusted to a normal state, followed by external fixation with plaster. (3) Artificial knee replacement surgery: For patients with severe osteoarthritis of the knee that causes bone hyperplasia and seriously affects the function of the knee joint (such as flexion and extension), and whose daily life is affected by severe pain, artificial knee replacement surgery can be considered. |
