Why are my ears itchy and watery? Beware of infection

Itchy ears are a common phenomenon. Some people experience itchy ears accompanied by discharge. This is mostly caused by ear diseases and is accompanied by some symptoms. Only after understanding the symptoms can you treat them symptomatically. Here I will explain to you the symptoms of itchy ears and discharge.

1. Symptoms of water discharge in the ears

Ear discharge refers to the accumulation or outflow of fluid in the ear canal, so it is called otorrhea or otorrhea. According to the properties of the outflowing liquid, there are: oil and fat

shape. Greasy ears, commonly known as oily ears. The watery discharge from ear canal eczema is yellow, and the ruptured bullous myringitis is bloody and watery.

Simple otitis media is mostly characterized by fishy-smelling sticky pus, while cholesteatoma otitis media is characterized by smelly pus. The pus and blood include the smelly pus and blood from middle ear cancer, the bloody pus from otitis media, and fresh blood flowing out from trauma.

2. Some manifestations of ear discharge

Ear discharge is just a different manifestation of many ear diseases. It must be diagnosed based on whether the patient has ear pain, itching, hearing impairment, duration of the disease, and the nature of the discharge.

The nature of the disease and the presence or absence of facial paralysis are determined by combining the findings of specialist examinations, X-rays, and CT scans to determine the location (external ear, middle ear, or inner ear) and nature of the lesion.

3. Treat the cause:

Inflammation is mainly treated with anti-inflammatory methods, such as 3% hydrogen peroxide for ear washing, 2.5% chloramphenicol ear drops or 0.3% ofloxacin ear drops for otolysis treatment. Acute cases still require systemic antibiotics. For external ear lacerations caused by trauma, they should be sutured. For craniocerebral injury accompanied by temporal bone fracture, the author should ask the neurosurgeon to cooperate in the treatment. For patients with cerebrospinal fluid leakage, ear canal packing is not required. Otitis media of the edentulous type, cholesteatoma type, and middle ear cancer are mainly treated with surgery. In addition to antibiotics, eczema infections should also be treated with anti-allergic drugs, such as oral antihistamines. For those with lumps blocking the ear canal, they can be removed or softened with 3% baking soda solution drops in the ear, and then the ear canal should be flushed and discharged after three days.
