How to preserve honey in summer

Honey is one of the common foods in our daily life, but have you discovered that in addition to eating honey, the preservation of honey is also very important. In order to prevent honey from expiring and getting wet, generally every kind of food has a shelf life, especially in the hot summer. If honey is not well preserved, it is easy to turn into cancerous substances. So how to preserve honey in summer without losing its nutritional value!

Honey should be stored in a cool and dark place. Since honey is a weakly acidic liquid and can react chemically with metals, a chemical reaction will occur when it comes into contact with metals such as lead, zinc, and iron during storage. Therefore, non-metallic containers such as ceramics, glass bottles, non-toxic plastic barrels, etc. should be used to store honey.

During storage, honey should also be prevented from odor contamination, moisture, fermentation, and contamination. In order to avoid odor contamination and contamination, it must not be stored together with odorous items (such as gasoline, alcohol, garlic, etc.), corrosive items (such as fertilizers, pesticides, lime, alkali, saltpeter, etc.) or unsanitary items (such as waste products, livestock products, etc.).

The shelf life of honey is currently 18 months as stipulated by the state. But bees with high capped mature concentration can also be kept for many years. But it is better to eat fresh honey, because fresh honey generally has better color, aroma and taste.

Honey will deteriorate over time, which manifests itself in two aspects: first, the taste becomes sour, and second, it becomes thinner (normal honey is very viscous, and high-quality osmanthus honey can even be wrapped in clean paper instead of in buckets or bottles, which shows how viscous it is). Honey spoils mainly due to increased temperature, so a refrigerator can solve this problem.

The appearance of many gray bubbles on the honey indicates that some organic matter in the honey has decomposed and turned into gas and overflowed. At this time, even if the honey has not yet deteriorated, its nutritional value has decreased.

The shelf life of honey is very critical. Freshly bought honey should be stored in a cool place. It should be away from moisture and pollution. It is not suitable to store honey in dirty places. The shelf life of honey is about 18 months as stipulated by the state. If the honey has been opened, pay attention to check whether there is hair on the surface of the honey or whether it is moldy.
