Anesthesia and preoperative preparation

2. Preoperative Preparation

(1) Rinse the tear duct and conjunctival sac with saline. For 3 consecutive days before surgery, apply antibiotic eye drops 4 times a day as prescribed by your doctor to prevent infection.

(2) Administer medication before surgery as directed by the doctor.

Indications

1. Due to inflammation or mechanical damage to the lacrimal sac or Krause gland, a light blue transparent cyst can be seen at the upper outer corner of the superior fornix, and the cyst gradually increases in size.

2. Due to wounds or surgery, the epithelium is embedded under the epithelium and grows into a cyst, which gradually grows larger.

3. Parasitic cysts caused by cystic larvae.

Contraindications

Acute phase of inflammation of the eyelids, conjunctiva, cornea and lacrimal duct.

Surgical procedures

1. Under a surgical microscope, cut the epithelial layer in the center of the conjunctival cyst.

2. Subepithelial separation, complete removal of the cyst.

3. Suture the conjunctiva and apply antibiotic eye ointment in the conjunctival sac.

Postoperative Care

Change the dressing daily, apply antibiotic eye ointment, and remove the stitches 5 days after surgery.

Postoperative diet

After the operation, patients should be given non-irritating, easily digestible, nutritious semi-liquid soft food. The diet should be light, easily digestible, rich in fiber, eat more vegetables and fruits, avoid spicy and irritating foods, do not overeat, and refrain from smoking and drinking.
