Who are the susceptible groups to hepatitis A?

When it comes to hepatitis A, everyone is familiar with it, because people with hepatitis A around them often make people afraid to stay away from them. So who are the susceptible groups to hepatitis A? How can we effectively prevent hepatitis A infection? Hepatitis A, full name: hepatitis A virus, is an infectious disease caused by hepatitis A virus (HAV), characterized by liver inflammation, mainly transmitted through the fecal-oral route. Based on the transmission route, we have a clear understanding of the susceptible population of hepatitis A and can effectively prevent hepatitis A.

(1) Occupationally susceptible population

Workers handling dirt or sewage, and those working in the food industry. If they come into contact with unpackaged foods that are not cooked, they may be infected; if staff are infected with HAV, they will contaminate food, which may cause an outbreak among people who use these foods; staff who come into contact with children; such as those working in nurseries, kindergartens, schools, etc.; medical workers; and laboratory personnel doing testing.

(2) Susceptible individuals

Individuals living in low-infection areas and traveling to moderate or high-endemic areas; people in contact with susceptible people (groups, prisons, large families); children - the main virus host and the source of infection for child-to-adult transmission; people with chronic liver disease, who are very sensitive to HAV; people who have received multiple blood transfusions; intravenous drug users; male homosexuals.

In addition, my country is a high-incidence area of hepatitis A, and the infection rate of hepatitis A virus is very high. According to epidemiological survey data, among the normal population over 30 years old, nearly 90% were found to have anti-hepatitis A virus antibodies in their bodies. That is to say, almost everyone over 30 years old has immunity and is therefore less likely to contract hepatitis A. Most children and adolescents under the age of 15 have no anti-hepatitis A virus antibodies in their bodies and therefore have no immunity to the hepatitis A virus, making them susceptible to infection. Therefore, when hepatitis A is prevalent, normal people in this age group are easily infected and become ill. Therefore, hepatitis A vaccine should be injected to stimulate the production of HAV-IgG antibodies to prevent the occurrence of hepatitis A.

The susceptible population for hepatitis A is mainly people under the age of 15, that is, children and adolescents, so everyone should focus on disease prevention for children, actively vaccinate them with hepatitis A vaccine, and use the antibodies in the body to prevent hepatitis A. At the same time, we should also pay attention to prevention in life. If any unknown symptoms are found, we should seek medical advice in time so that effective treatment can be carried out more promptly.
