Everyone has their favorite sleeping position, either lying on their side or on their back. Each position has its pros and cons for us, and sleep is a very important behavior in a person's life. It is impossible for a person to survive without sleep. Therefore, a person's sleeping position represents whether this person can sleep well. Here, I will introduce several common sleeping positions. I believe you can choose the one that suits you best. 1. Lie on your back. This is the most common sleeping posture. In traditional Chinese medicine, this sleeping posture is called corpse lying. When the human body is in this sleeping position, the body and lower limbs can only be fixed in the straight position, which will cause muscle tension and cannot be completely relaxed, so the purpose of full body rest cannot be achieved. Moreover, when the pressure in the abdominal cavity increases, lying on your back can easily cause people to feel chest tightness and suffocation. Moreover, because of this posture, you will consciously or unconsciously place your hands on your chest, which will cause pressure on your heart and lungs, making it very easy to have nightmares. 2. Lie prone. This is what we usually call sleeping on your stomach. At this time, the face and neck are sideways, and you have to twist the head to one side, which can easily cause damage to the neck muscles. Most of the body's weight is pressed on the ribs and abdomen, which puts pressure on the chest and diaphragm, seriously affecting breathing and increasing the burden on the heart. Moreover, lying prone will increase the curvature of the lumbar spine, causing pressure on the small joints behind the spine. This sleeping posture is not advisable. 3. Lie on your left side. That is, bend your legs slightly and sleep on the side facing your heart. Sleeping on your side does help relax the body and eliminate fatigue, but lying on the left side is not ideal because the heart is located between the left and right lungs in the chest cavity and is biased to the left. The outlets of our stomach to the duodenum and the small intestine to the large intestine are all on the left. Therefore, when lying on the left side, not only the heart is squeezed, but also the gastrointestinal tract is compressed, and gastric emptying is slowed down. This sleeping position is not the best choice either. Of course, for a healthy person, don't forcibly restrict your sleeping position, because a night is very long, and people may constantly change their positions to relieve fatigue. This is inevitable. If you toss and turn because of frequent insomnia, it is best to give yourself a psychological hint and fix a better position to make it easier to fall asleep. |
