Can swimming treat high blood pressure?

People now have a higher standard of living and eat better, with delicacies from land and sea, as well as meat and fish. They have many social engagements and less exercise, which leads to being overweight. Obesity can lead to many diseases, and hypertension is one of these diseases. Many elderly people gain weight in their later years and suffer from high blood pressure, and many people are looking for ways to treat high blood pressure. Many people say that swimming can cure high blood pressure. Is this true? Let me explain it to you now.

It can't be cured. But proper physical exercise is good for controlling high blood pressure. Swimming is a high-intensity sport, so it is not recommended for elderly patients with hypertension to do this sport, as intense exercise can easily induce cerebrovascular accidents.

1. Drug treatment should be used under the guidance of a doctor. Taking antihypertensive drugs should be done on time, in fixed amounts and with persistence, which is the key to treating hypertension.

1. The following antihypertensive drugs are currently recommended for isolated systolic hypertension in the elderly.

A. Diuretics are mainly used for mild to moderate hypertension, especially in the elderly with hypertension or concurrent heart failure. Patients with diabetes and hyperlipidemia should be careful to avoid adverse reactions such as hypokalemia and arrhythmia. Furosemide (Lasix) is used only in cases of renal failure.

B. Calcium channel blockers can be used for various degrees of hypertension, especially in elderly people with hypertension or combined with stable angina pectoris. Long-acting preparations are preferred, such as felodipine and nifedipine. Rapid-acting dihydropyridine calcium antagonists are contraindicated in stable angina and acute myocardial infarction.

C. Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors are mainly used for patients with hypertension and diabetes, or patients with concurrent heart failure, kidney damage and proteinuria, but are contraindicated in patients with renal failure.

D. β-blockers are mainly used for mild to moderate hypertension, especially in patients with a fast heart rate at rest (greater than 80 beats/minute) or combined with angina pectoris. It is contraindicated in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and peripheral vascular disease, and should be used with caution in patients with type 1 diabetes.

2. Precautions for use

①Try to take long-acting antihypertensive drugs once a day that can steadily lower blood pressure, such as the combination of enalapril and nifedipine sustained-release.

② Avoid lowering blood pressure too quickly and affecting blood perfusion of major organs (heart, brain, and kidneys), and do not arbitrarily increase medication dosage or frequency of use in order to lower blood pressure too quickly.

③To prevent drug-induced hypotension, small doses of combined medications can be used. Measure blood pressure 1 to 2 times a day during the first two weeks of medication to see if there is a tendency towards hypotension.

④ If the blood pressure lowering effect is not ideal after the above treatment, you must seek medical attention in time and must not change the medication or increase the dosage without authorization.

Patients should quit smoking and drinking, maintain a balanced mentality, eat a balanced diet, eat less fat-rich foods, eat more vegetables, and eat more celery, which can protect blood vessels and lower blood pressure. Eating more onions can also help lower blood lipids, prevent blood clots, and help lower blood pressure. Ensure adequate sleep, drink more vinegar and peanuts every day, and be sure to eat them with red clothes.
