What are the symptoms of mumps in a 20-year-old?

Mumps can occur at any time, but usually occurs in winter and spring, and people of any age are likely to be infected. Symptoms usually include fever, anorexia, weakness, etc. Generally, people have different symptoms depending on their age. I believe most people don’t understand mumps yet. Next, I will introduce to you the symptoms of mumps in 20 years old.

1. History of contact with mumps 2-3 weeks before onset of illness.

2 In the early stages, there may be symptoms such as fever, fatigue, muscle pain, loss of appetite, headache, vomiting, and sore throat, but in most children the symptoms are not severe or obvious.

3. Parotid gland swelling occurs 1-2 days after onset, usually on one side first, followed by swelling on the other side 1-2 days later. Parotid swelling is centered on the earlobe. It spreads to the surrounding area, the edges are unclear, the local skin is not red, the surface is burning, and it feels elastic and painful. Redness and swelling may be seen at the opening of the parotid duct. The child feels local pain and hyperesthesia, which is more obvious when opening the mouth and chewing. Some children have swelling of the submandibular and sublingual glands. It is accompanied by moderate fever and a few cases have high fever. Parotid gland swelling usually reaches its peak within 1 to 3 days, lasts for 4 to 5 days, gradually subsides and returns to normal. The entire course of the disease is about 10 to 14 days.

4. The white blood cell count may be normal or slightly decreased, and the lymphocyte count may be relatively increased. Increased amylase in blood and urine.

5. Atypical cases may present with simple orchitis or meningoencephalitis symptoms without parotid gland swelling, or with only submandibular or sublingual gland swelling.

I believe everyone has understood through the editor's brief introduction to the symptoms of mumps in 20 years old. If you have the above symptoms, you need to go to a regular hospital for examination this morning and receive targeted treatment based on your own situation. In addition, you should also pay attention to drinking more water, eating a light and balanced diet, and maintaining a good attitude, which will be helpful for the treatment of the disease.
