What are the disadvantages of exercising after a meal?

I believe that everyone likes to go out for a walk with family and friends after dinner, or do some strenuous exercise such as playing badminton or running. But I wonder if you understand what kind of reaction exercising after a meal will have on the body? Does exercising after a meal really help digestion? Is it really good for the body? Maybe the answer is not necessarily so!

During exercise, the activity of muscles redistributes blood throughout the body, and a large amount of blood flows to the muscles involved in the activity. The blood vessels of internal organs, such as the stomach and intestines, are in a state of relative contraction. Therefore, the digestion and absorption functions are also inhibited, the secretion of gastric juice decreases, and the digestive ability weakens. In addition, the sympathetic nerves are excited during exercise and the secretion of adrenaline is greatly increased, which can also weaken the peristalsis of the gastrointestinal tract and greatly reduce the secretion of the digestive glands. However, this state cannot be changed immediately after exercise. It takes a certain amount of rest to return to normal, so you cannot eat immediately after intense exercise. If you eat immediately after intense exercise, it will affect your digestion and absorption ability. If this continues for a long time, it will cause symptoms such as indigestion, loss of appetite, and chronic gastritis. However, it is not good to do strenuous exercise immediately after a meal, as it will inhibit the secretion of digestive juices and the peristalsis of the digestive tract. At the same time, because strenuous exercise increases the blood flow to the bones and muscles throughout the body, the blood flow to the stomach, intestines and internal organs decreases, which can easily cause indigestion, affect absorption, and even cause chronic indigestion in severe cases.

So you can't go out for exercise immediately after a meal, as this will only harm your body and have no benefits. So when will exercise have a good effect on your body? After a meal, you can rest for about an hour before engaging in exercise. This not only gives you enough time to digest the food, but doing some exercise after digesting the food will also be beneficial to your health. Why not do it!
