Introduction to disease prevention knowledge in spring

I believe everyone knows that spring is a season when diseases are more prevalent. The reason is that wind is the main air in spring, and there are more diseases in windy seasons. But how much do you know about common diseases in spring? If we don’t understand these diseases, how can we prevent them properly? Next, let’s take a look at spring diseases.

Basics

1. Chickenpox

The patient is contagious from 2 days before to 6 days after the rash appears.

In the early stages of the disease, there may be prodromal symptoms such as fever, headache, and general fatigue. A rash will appear within 24 hours of onset, and the rash is distributed in a centripetal pattern, with more cases on the trunk and head and fewer on the limbs. In most cases, patients' symptoms are mild and recover without treatment.

2. Influenza

Cold: It is a common disease in the "windy" season. The treatment principle for common colds in spring is to dispel wind and cold, and Jingfang Baidu Decoction is generally used. Wind-heat cold can be characterized by severe fever, slight aversion to wind, poor sweating, headache, cough, yellow sputum, dry throat, red and swollen throat, nasal congestion and runny yellow nose, and dry mouth. The treatment principle is to use pungent and cool herbs to relieve the exterior, dispel wind and clear heat, and Yinqiao Powder is often used as the main prescription. Epidemic colds are mostly epidemic, with a sharp increase in the number of cases in the same period and similar symptoms, often with a sudden onset, chills, high fever, body aches, fatigue and weakness. The condition is more serious than the common cold, which is equivalent to the influenza in Western medicine.

Cough: Generally speaking, cough can be divided into two types: wind-heat and wind-cold. The main symptoms of wind-cold cough are heavy cough, itchy throat, thin white sputum, often accompanied by clear runny nose, nasal congestion, headache, limb aches, and may also be accompanied by chills and fever. The principles of treatment are to dispel wind and cold, promote lung function and relieve cough. Patients with wind-heat cough generally have severe cough, dry and sore throat, difficult sputum expectoration, thick or yellow sputum, easy sweating, and are often accompanied by symptoms such as headache, runny yellow nose, thirst, body heat, and limb aches. They should be treated with methods of dispersing wind and heat, promoting lung function and relieving cough.

3. Measles

Measles patients are the source of infection, and the disease is mainly transmitted through droplets or direct contact with the patient's nasopharyngeal secretions.

In the early stages of the disease, symptoms include cough, runny nose, fever, red eyes and white spots in the mouth (Koplik's leukoplakia). After 3 to 7 days, maculopapular rash will appear on the skin, usually spreading from the face to the whole body, lasting 4 to 7 days, or up to 3 weeks, leaving brown spots or desquamation. In seriously ill patients, the respiratory system, digestive system and brain will be affected, leading to serious consequences or even death.

4. Hand, foot and mouth disease

Hand, foot and mouth disease patients and asymptomatic carriers are both sources of infection, and the disease is mainly transmitted through the digestive tract, respiratory tract and close contact. It mostly occurs in preschool children, especially in the age group under 3 years old.

The main symptoms are maculopapular rashes and herpes on the hands, feet, mouth and other parts of the body. A few severe cases may develop meningitis, encephalitis, encephalomyelitis, pulmonary edema, circulatory disorders, etc.

Through the introduction in the above article, I believe everyone has a general understanding of common diseases in spring? Therefore, in order to reduce the occurrence of these diseases, we need to pay special attention to them in our lives. Strengthening exercise, early prevention and a proper diet are all essential measures to increase the body's resistance.
