Can rhinitis be cured by surgery

Many people know that the symptoms of rhinitis are very uncomfortable. Some patients even need surgical treatment to recover. Most people with rhinitis will have enlarged nasal polyps, so these patients will not only have a heavy nasal sound for a long time, but also find it difficult to eat normally. Eating a little bit of cold food will easily cause nasal congestion, runny nose, dizziness and headache. Does rhinitis require surgical treatment?

Treatment

If the specific allergen has been identified, treatment is the same as for hay fever, except that systemic corticosteroids are not used because they must be used for a long time. When allergic factors are controlled or eliminated, surgical treatment (sinusotomy, sinus irrigation, nasal polypectomy, submucosal resection) can be performed if necessary.

There is insufficient data to prove that surgery is effective for perennial rhinitis. Patients with the aforementioned eosinophilic nonatopic rhinitis often respond best to topical glucocorticoids. For patients with vasodynamic rhinitis, they only need to relax and take antihistamines and vasoconstrictors; avoid local decongestants because they have a post-congestion effect. If used continuously for more than one week, it may aggravate chronic rhinitis or make it difficult to heal (the so-called drug-induced rhinitis). Some patients with rhinitis often use saline to rinse the nasal cavity topically or apply ipratropium bromide or spray the nasal cavity, which may have a certain effect.

Diet and health care

Avoid eating cold, raw, and other irritating foods; be cautious when eating seafood such as fish, shrimp, and crabs; eat more foods that nourish the lungs; quit smoking and avoid secondhand smoke, and try to avoid going to places with polluted air.

Preventive Care

This disease is an abnormal immune response of the human body. There is currently no effective cure, so medication can only be used to reduce attacks and alleviate symptoms.

At present, the most effective treatment is to find the allergens (using various allergens to explore and test), and once found, try to avoid contact with the allergens to reduce the incidence of the disease.

Pathological etiology

It is caused by perennial allergens, often related to mites, fungi, etc., and is called perennial allergic rhinitis [1]. Human understanding of the pathogenesis of allergic rhinitis has gone through a long process.
