How can early cancer be detected

Cancer is an almost incurable disease in modern life. It is extremely harmful and can cause the death of patients in the late stages. Therefore, cancer is also called the seed of the devil. The key to treating cancer is early detection. Therefore, it is very necessary to use advanced technology to detect cancer in a timely manner. Let’s take a look at how early cancer can be detected. I hope everyone can understand it.

PET-CT is often used in clinical practice to examine tumors. PET-CT uses PET imaging to obtain quantitative functional images of glucose metabolism in local tissues, clearly showing increased or decreased glucose metabolism, thereby accurately identifying cancer lesions.

Compared with other detection methods, it has the following 7 advantages:

1. Identify tumors or lesions: When a tumor is detected, the first thing to do is to identify whether it is malignant or benign. This not only affects the patient's treatment plan, but also directly affects the patient's prognosis.

2. Tumor staging: PET-CT is a systemic examination that can detect various organs in the body, including the brain, lungs, lymph nodes, kidneys, liver, and bones, to see if there is metastasis. This can accurately stage malignant tumors.

3. Identify whether the tumor has recurred after treatment: It is difficult to identify whether the tumor has recurred using general screening tools. PET-CT can simultaneously identify tumor fibrosis, necrosis, and residual tumors after treatment, or determine whether they have recurred.

4. Help formulate tumor radiotherapy plan: select the most reasonable physiological target area for radiotherapy.

5. Find the primary tumor site: For patients with confirmed metastasis, PET-CT can be used to find the primary tumor site.

6. Evaluate the therapeutic effect: PET-CT has high sensitivity and the characteristics of functional metabolic imaging. It can accurately judge the effect of radiotherapy and chemotherapy, which helps doctors adjust the treatment plan.

7. The accuracy rate is as high as over 90%: PET-CT determines the location of the lesion based on the metabolism of glucose in malignant tumors. The accuracy rate of this method in detecting tumors is as high as over 90%.

There is no need to worry about radiation when doing this test. The amount of radionuclide used in PET-CT examination is very small, even lower than that in conventional CT examination, and it stays in the subject's body for a very short time, so there is no need to worry about radiation issues.
