Six symptoms reveal the traces of laryngeal cancer

The larynx has the functions of breathing, pronunciation and protection, and is an important organ of the human body. However, in recent years, laryngeal cancer has become one of the most common malignant tumors in the Department of Otolaryngology. If laryngeal cancer is detected and treated early, it can not only be completely cured, but also the laryngeal function can be preserved to the maximum extent, improving the patient's quality of life. In daily life, if you find yourself experiencing the following symptoms, you must be vigilant and go to the hospital for examination as soon as possible, because these symptoms are likely to be early symptoms of laryngeal cancer.

Symptom 1: Hoarseness

In the early stage, the symptoms are easy fatigue or hoarseness when speaking, without other discomfort, which is often mistaken for colds or laryngitis. Anyone over 40 years old, especially men and long-term smokers, who have hoarseness for more than 3 weeks and who has not improved after voice rest and general treatment, must go to the hospital for a laryngoscopy.

Symptom 2: Throat discomfort and foreign body sensation

This is an early symptom of supraglottic laryngeal cancer, but it should be distinguished from the symptoms of chronic pharyngitis.

Symptom 3: Sore throat

The tumor invades deeply, causing intermittent pain at first, followed by continuous pain, and causing simultaneous reflex ear pain, and difficulty swallowing due to pharyngeal pain.

Symptom 4: Coughing and coughing up blood

In the early stage, symptoms include coughing without sputum or only a small amount of sputum, and no coughing up blood. As the disease progresses, blood in the sputum or even coughing up blood may appear.

Symptom 5: Difficulty breathing

Dyspnea is often a typical symptom of advanced laryngeal cancer.

Symptom 6: Swollen lymph nodes in the neck

Especially for patients with supraglottic laryngeal cancer, cervical lymph node enlargement is prone to occur in the early stages.
