Liver cancer resection keeps life going

Here I tell you a true story to give you more confidence in fighting cancer.

Lao Wang is a genuine farmer from Pinggu District, Beijing. He is 68 years old now, but his story began 22 years ago.

It was a very ordinary day in 1990. It was the beginning of spring, there was not much farm work to do, and the weather was very good. Lao Wang was basking in the sun in his newly built yard. He had been worrying about the house for a while, and now that he had finally finished his work, he could finally take a break, Lao Wang thought.

But Lao Wang's upper abdomen began to ache again. Lao Wang couldn't remember when the pain started. He only remembered that it was fine when he was digging the foundation. It was not until recently when he was not so busy that he began to notice it. However, looking at the houses that he had built personally, Lao Wang still leisurely lit a cigarette with a smile on his face.

But after a few days, Lao Wang had more and more pains, and found that he had less and less appetite, and his body was much thinner than before. Maybe he was tired, Lao Wang thought. But Lao Wang's wife thought it was necessary to check, so she rode her bicycle to the district hospital for a check-up.

After the doctor's detailed inquiries and general examinations, the doctor felt that something was not right, so he asked Lao Wang to go to a large hospital in Beijing for a check-up. The examination revealed that he had liver cancer. Lao Wang clearly remembered that it was May 13, 1990. He was pushed onto the operating table. After a very long time, when Lao Wang woke up, his left liver lobe had been removed.

So, now it is 2012, and Lao Wang is still working on his farmland. The new house he built that year is already a bit old, but Lao Wang has become more attached to it.
