Symptoms of peritoneal metastasis of colorectal cancer

Symptoms of peritoneal metastasis of colorectal cancer

When intestinal cancer causes peritoneal metastasis, timely medical attention is required for diagnosis and treatment. This condition may be accompanied by a series of obvious or subtle symptoms.

The peritoneum is a thin membrane located in the abdominal cavity that protects and supports the internal organs. When intestinal cancer cells spread to this area, they will cause some abnormal changes in the abdominal cavity. Patients may feel abdominal distension and pain, especially persistent dull pain or dull pain; ascites may also occur, which is manifested by a significant enlargement of the abdomen or even a sense of fluctuation. In addition, some patients may suddenly feel nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, accompanied by rapid weight loss or general fatigue.

For the condition, the deeper impact may be intestinal dysfunction, such as abnormal bowel movements, alternating constipation and diarrhea, or changes in bowel habits. If the tumor affects other organs, local symptoms may also occur, such as a noticeable feeling of fullness in the lower abdomen. These changes are often caused by local irritation or compression caused by the spread of cancer cells, and are accompanied by a feeling of general weakness.

If similar symptoms occur, you should go to the hospital as soon as possible to consult an oncologist and make a clear diagnosis through imaging examinations (such as CT, MRI) and ascites tests. At the same time, you should pay attention to a balanced diet, eat more easily digestible foods, reduce the burden on the intestines, and continue to pay attention to changes in symptoms to provide information for subsequent treatment.
