What causes skin fibroma

Skin fibroma is generally caused by the proliferation of local fibrous tissue after the skin is slightly injured. In our surrounding environment, the skin is faced with various external pressures every day, such as scratches, squeezing, etc. These mechanical or minor injuries will stimulate the fibroblasts in the bottom layer of the skin, causing them to overproliferate, thus forming a benign mass, which is what we call skin fibroma. This situation often occurs without a clear cause and is not contagious. In many cases, it is related to the individual's physique and immune response.

From a medical point of view, this is a benign skin proliferative disease, which often manifests as small hard nodules on the surface of the skin, usually dark or brown in color, hard to the touch and with clear borders. Fibromas usually occur in areas that are prone to friction or minor injuries, such as the lower limbs, arms or shoulders. For example, when you are doing gardening activities in the yard and accidentally get scratched by a branch, such a small lump may appear in that area. Generally speaking, this fibroma does not cause any discomfort, but the appearance may be bothersome to some people. However, it will not worsen or disappear on its own.

If similar symptoms occur on the skin, you should be careful to avoid further friction or damage and take appropriate skin care measures, such as using moisturizing lotion to keep the skin soft. Avoid wearing tight clothing to reduce friction, and also pay attention to strengthening the sun protection of the skin. This type of fibroid usually does not require special treatment, but if it affects your daily life or causes psychological distress, you can consult a dermatologist to find out whether surgical removal is necessary. The doctor can provide you with personalized advice and treatment plans to ensure proper treatment.
