Formation of arterial blood pressure:

Arterial blood pressure refers to the lateral pressure (intensity) of blood on the aortic wall per unit area, generally referring to the blood pressure inside the aorta. Its international standard unit is Pascal (Pa) or kilopascal (kPa), and it was often expressed in millimeters of mercury in the past.

The elastic expansion and contraction of the large arteries play an important buffering role in preventing systolic blood pressure from being too high and diastolic blood pressure from being too low.
