Can nasal endoscopy detect nasopharyngeal cancer? What are the dietary taboos for nasopharyngeal cancer?

When we suspect that we have nasopharyngeal cancer, we always want to check it out. So can nasopharyngeal cancer be checked with a nasal endoscope? What are the dietary taboos for patients with nasopharyngeal cancer?

Can nasopharyngeal carcinoma be examined with a nasal endoscope? Nasal endoscopy can detect most nasopharyngeal abnormalities.

Generally speaking, fiberoptic nasopharyngeal endoscopy can diagnose NPC in most cases, but there are some exceptions. If the biopsy cannot detect cancerous tissue, the cancerous tissue will not grow into the mucosa, resulting in smooth mucosa and missed diagnosis, and the bleeding cannot be seen during the examination, NPC may not be ruled out. Sometimes multiple nasopharyngeal endoscopy or nasopharyngeal magnetic resonance imaging is required for EB virus testing.

Common clinical symptoms of rhinoscopy include:

1. Runny nose, blood in the nose, deafness, tinnitus, headache, facial numbness, and double vision.

2 Physical examination may reveal nasopharyngeal masses, neck masses and cranial nerve palsy.

3. Imaging examinations, including X-ray, CT and MRI examinations.

4Nasopharyngeal endoscopy includes indirect nasopharyngeal endoscopy and fiberoptic nasopharyngeal endoscopy.

5. Needle puncture cytology examination is a common practice for histopathological diagnosis in recent years.

6 Serum EB virus antibody detection can be used as an auxiliary diagnostic method.

Nasal endoscopy can detect most nasopharyngeal abnormalities. However, there are a few cases with no obvious abnormalities in appearance, which require imaging examinations such as CT\MRI to determine. After nasal endoscopy finds nasopharyngeal neoplasms, a biopsy should be performed, and then the diagnosis should be confirmed by pathological examination.

What are the dietary taboos for nasopharyngeal cancer?

1. Avoid fatty, sticky and phlegm-producing foods.

2. Avoid smoking, drinking and spicy food.

3. Avoid dry and hot foods when coughing up blood, such as leeks, onions, garlic, cinnamon, fried and grilled foods.

When we suspect that we have nasopharyngeal cancer, we should go to the hospital for examination as soon as possible and choose appropriate examination methods for diagnosis under the guidance of a doctor, just in case.
