The difference between chondrosarcoma and osteosarcoma

The difference between chondrosarcoma and osteosarcoma

Osteosarcoma is the most common primary bone tumor with high malignancy. Its characteristic is that the proliferating tumor cells can directly form bone or bone-like matrix, so it is also called osteogenic sarcoma. It is common in adolescents, and cases between the ages of 10 and 30 account for 80% of the cases. Chondrosarcoma is the most common cartilage-derived malignancy. Its characteristic is that the proliferating tumor cells can form cartilage matrix. It is common in adults, and the age of onset is 30 to 40 years old. It is a typical adult tumor. Osteosarcoma is a high-grade malignancy. The disease progresses rapidly. In the early stage of the disease, it can form systemic subclinical metastasis. The treatment of osteosarcoma emphasizes preoperative chemotherapy and postoperative chemotherapy, while chondrosarcoma is relatively low in malignancy and develops slowly. Chemotherapy is not required before surgery, and surgical treatment is the main treatment. The common sites of osteosarcoma are the metaphysis of long tubular bones, while the common sites of chondrosarcoma are the long tubular bones of the limbs, pelvis, spine, scapula, etc. Both tumors are malignant tumors. The clinical manifestations and imaging characteristics are similar at a certain stage, but the histological and cytological manifestations are different, and there are differences in treatment.

How long can you live with osteosarcoma?

Osteosarcoma is a malignant bone tumor that can cause bone and joint pain, as well as localized lumps, which generally require surgical removal. Osteosarcoma patients can live for about 6 years, depending on the severity of the disease and the individual's physical condition. If the patient's physical condition is weak, the disease may worsen and affect the patient's life. Chemotherapy is also needed before surgery to control the spread and metastasis of cancer cells.

There are many tumors on the body

If it is a sebaceous cyst, eating fried or greasy food that is easy to get angry may cause bacterial infection, resulting in local redness, swelling, heat, pain, and even infection, abscess formation, and pus discharge. If you can feel the small sarcoma on your body, it is usually a skin soft tissue tumor. Common subcutaneous soft tissue tumors include tendon ganglion cysts, sebaceous cysts, lipomas, fibromas, etc. The above tumors are mainly benign tumors, which can generally be diagnosed through local color Doppler ultrasound. Other symptoms of infection or deterioration generally do not appear, there is nothing special locally, it will not affect the appearance, it will not suddenly increase, and there will be no pain. Generally, it is mainly observed and no special treatment is required.
