Not all thyroid cancers are lazy cancers. In clinical practice, such patients are more common. Some thyroid cancer patients are neglected because the disease progresses slowly, so they are mistakenly believed to have lazy cancers. It is wrong to say that thyroid cancer is not all lazy cancers. Some thyroid cancer patients progress slowly and have no obvious symptoms in the early stages. However, as the tumor grows, it will compress or invade adjacent organs or tissues, causing symptoms such as neck discomfort, hoarseness, difficulty swallowing, and difficulty breathing. 1. Neck discomfort: When the tumor continues to grow, it will compress or invade surrounding tissues. When compressing the trachea, it will cause neck discomfort, accompanied by symptoms such as coughing, sputum, shortness of breath, and chest tightness. If the tumor compresses the esophagus, it will cause difficulty in eating, loss of appetite, and difficulty swallowing. When compressing blood vessels, it will cause obstruction of blood return in the neck or upper limb veins, resulting in symptoms of upper limb edema; 2. Hoarseness: When the tumor invades the recurrent laryngeal nerve, it will cause vocal cord paralysis and hoarseness, and in severe cases may lead to loss of voice; 3. Difficulty in swallowing: When the tumor grows to a certain size, it will compress the esophagus, causing esophageal stenosis, which may cause difficulty in swallowing; 4. Difficulty breathing: If the tumor compresses the trachea, it may cause tracheal stenosis and lead to difficulty breathing. In addition to the above conditions, thyroid cancer patients may also experience hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, etc. Therefore, when thyroid cancer patients feel unwell, they should not mistake it for lazy cancer and not seek treatment. It is recommended to go to the hospital for examination in time to determine whether there is a tumor to avoid delaying the disease. Patients with early thyroid cancer can usually be cured, while patients with mid-to-late thyroid cancer may not be cured, but surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, etc. can be performed to control the progression of the disease and improve the patient's quality of life. |
