What does single thyroid cancer mean

Thyroid cancer is a common malignant tumor of the thyroid gland, which can be divided into papillary thyroid cancer, follicular thyroid cancer, medullary thyroid cancer and anaplastic thyroid cancer. Most thyroid cancers are papillary thyroid cancers, follicular thyroid cancer and medullary thyroid cancer are more common in women, while anaplastic thyroid cancer is less common. In general, thyroid cancer mainly refers to tumors derived from thyroid follicular epithelial cells.

1. Papillary thyroid carcinoma: It accounts for 1% of all tumors in the body. It is usually less malignant and in most cases has no cervical lymph node metastasis or distant metastasis. The 10-year survival rate is about 90%.

2. Follicular thyroid cancer: It accounts for about 10% of all tumors in the body. This tumor grows slowly and does not metastasize or invade surrounding tissues in the early stages. The 10-year survival rate is about 70%;

3. Medullary thyroid cancer: It accounts for about 10% of all tumors in the body. This tumor is highly malignant and has obvious cervical lymph node metastasis. The 10-year survival rate is about 50%;

4. Anaplastic thyroid cancer: This is the most malignant thyroid cancer. It has grown rapidly in recent years and may metastasize to other organs. The 10-year survival rate is only about 34%.

For patients with thyroid cancer, the tumor stage must be clearly identified before subsequent treatment can be carried out. Patients with early thyroid cancer can undergo surgical resection, such as total or near-total thyroidectomy. In addition to surgical resection, patients with mid- to late-stage thyroid cancer also need comprehensive treatments such as radionuclide therapy and endocrine therapy. Patients should pay attention to maintaining a happy mood in their daily lives, and they also need to pay attention to getting more rest and avoid staying up late and being overworked.
