What is the TSH value after hemisection of thyroid cancer

Thyroid cancer is a malignant tumor that originates from the thyroid follicular epithelium or parafollicular cells. Hemisection of thyroid cancer refers to a hemisection of the thyroid gland. The postoperative TSH value usually needs to be judged according to the nature of the thyroid cancer and cannot be generalized. It can generally be divided into papillary thyroid cancer, follicular thyroid cancer, medullary thyroid cancer, and anaplastic thyroid cancer.

1. Papillary thyroid cancer: It accounts for 60% of thyroid cancer and is the most common thyroid cancer. It has a low degree of malignancy. After hemithyroidectomy, the TSH value of the patient usually needs to be controlled below 0.1mIU/L.

2. Follicular thyroid cancer: It accounts for 10% of thyroid cancer and is less malignant. After hemithyroidectomy, the TSH value of patients generally needs to be controlled at 0.1-0.5mIU/L.

3. Medullary thyroid cancer: It refers to a malignant tumor originating from the parafollicular cells of the thyroid gland. It accounts for a relatively low proportion among all thyroid cancers. After a hemithyroidectomy, the TSH value of the patient usually needs to be controlled at 0.5-2.0 mIU/L.

4. Anaplastic thyroid cancer: It refers to a malignant tumor originating from the thyroid follicular epithelium or parafollicular cells. After the patient undergoes hemithyroidectomy, the TSH value may need to be controlled below 0.1mIU/L.

For patients with thyroid cancer, especially those with anaplastic thyroid cancer, they need to take levothyroxine sodium tablets for life after surgery, and they need to be followed up and observed for life. For patients with recurrent or advanced thyroid cancer, they also need to cooperate with comprehensive treatments such as radionuclide therapy, endocrine therapy and external radiation after surgical treatment.
