What you need to know about the 4 clinical types of lung cancer and the 3 methods for diagnosing lung cancer

Lung cancer is a malignant tumor that is most likely to occur in patients who have been smoking for a long time. It will have a great impact on the patient's life and in severe cases can even lead to death. Lung cancer can be divided into four clinical types, and there are three methods for diagnosing lung cancer.

Lung cancer is one of the malignant tumors with the fastest increasing incidence and mortality rate among all malignant tumors. It poses the greatest threat to human life and health. It can cause patients to have many clinical symptoms, such as cough, hoarseness, hemoptysis, chest pain, chest tightness, shortness of breath, etc. So what are the four clinical types of lung cancer and what are the three methods for diagnosing lung cancer?

The first of the four clinical types of lung cancer is adenocarcinoma. Adenocarcinoma generally has no obvious clinical symptoms in the early stages. Most of them originate from smaller bronchi and are peripheral lung cancers. They are often discovered during chest X-ray examinations and appear as round or oval masses. They grow relatively slowly, but sometimes blood metastasis occurs in the early stages, while lymph metastasis occurs later.

The second type is squamous cell carcinoma, which is the most common type of lung cancer. Most of them originate from larger bronchi and are generally central lung cancers. They grow and develop relatively slowly and have a longer course of disease.

The third type is alveolar cell carcinoma, which originates from the bronchial mucosal epithelium and has the lowest incidence among all types of lung cancer. It is generally highly differentiated and grows slowly. Cancer cells grow along the bronchioalveolar ducts and alveolar walls without invading the alveolar septa. Lymphatic and hematogenous metastasis occur later, but can spread through the bronchi to other lobes or invade the pleura.

The fourth type is undifferentiated carcinoma, which is highly malignant and grows relatively fast. It usually originates from larger bronchi and will metastasize to lymph nodes and blood vessels at an early stage. It is more sensitive to radiation and chemotherapy, but has the worst prognosis among all types of lung cancer.

The first of the three methods for diagnosing lung cancer is to perform a sputum cytology examination, which can find detached cancer cells in the sputum with an accuracy rate of more than 80%, but it requires multiple examinations over several consecutive days. The second method is to perform a bronchoscopy, which has a higher diagnostic positive rate for central lung cancer. The tumor can be seen intuitively and a biopsy can be taken at the same time. The third method is a pleural effusion examination, which requires extracting pleural effusion, centrifuging it, and then taking the precipitate for a smear examination to look for cancer cells.

These are the four clinical types of lung cancer and the methods for diagnosing lung cancer. Therefore, lung cancer patients should go to the hospital for examination as soon as possible to determine which type of lung cancer they have and then receive treatment. This will allow health to recover faster. In this process, you must maintain a good attitude and have the confidence to actively fight the disease, which will be of great benefit to your body.
