What are the harmful manifestations of bile duct cancer

What are the harmful manifestations of bile duct cancer? As we all know, cancer is very scary. The harm it brings to people is immeasurable and may even take their lives. Biliary duct cancer is one of them. It refers to a malignant tumor originating from the extrahepatic bile duct, including the bile duct from the portal area to the lower end of the common bile duct. So, what are the harmful manifestations of bile duct cancer?

1. Biliary obstruction: Cholangiocarcinoma will first cause bile duct obstruction in patients, which will lead to functional disorders of the bile duct system, and then to digestive system disorders, causing anorexia, poor appetite, indigestion, and then to malnutrition, emaciation, weight loss, decreased resistance and immunity, and other problems.

2. Liver failure: Cholangiocarcinoma can easily lead to liver failure, which is a very important reason for many patients to die from the disease. Cholangiocarcinoma can also often lead to bile fistula. This is the most common and serious complication after cholangiocarcinoma surgery. Because there are many openings in the intrahepatic bile duct, it is sometimes difficult to handle properly, making it easy for patients to have bile fistula after surgery.

3. Metastasis: The most common symptom of late-stage cholangiocarcinoma is metastasis, which is a dynamic and continuous process. First, tumor cells invade and break through tissue barriers to enter blood vessels and lymphatic vessels to form cell emboli, which then fall off and run in the blood or lymphatic vessels. Then, they adhere to the endothelial cells of the microcirculation of distant organs, stay there, and pass through the microcirculation, multiply in the new tissue and organ substance, and grow into new metastatic tumors.

In addition, during the metastasis of bile duct cancer, cancer cells can also fall directly into the body cavity. Implantation on the serosal surface forms implanted metastatic tumors. Biliary duct cancer metastasis mainly passes through lymphatic vessels, blood vessels and body cavities. Blood vessels mainly pass through veins, rarely through arteries first. Symptoms of late-stage bile duct cancer show that metastasis often starts from the lymphatic tract.
